Elementary English Language Arts Curriculum
Hamtramck Public Schools utilizes two English Language Arts Curriculums to meet the needs of all K-6 students.
- Wonders: Wonders is our core ELA curriculum. Wonders focuses on skill-building in writing, reading, language development, comprehension, and critical thinking. HPS students will expand their knowledge base as they engage with high-interest fiction and nonfiction texts to meet their individual growth goals.
- UFLI: Our phonics component is The University of Florida Literacy Institute’s Foundations Curriculum. UFLI:Foundations is an explicit and systematic phonics program that can be taught in whole and small-group formats to lay a solid base for developing readers leading to proficiency.
